Though not on a rooftop this year, the contemporary ambiance of The James Chicago made a perfect setting for our 3rd annual wine tasting event on Tuesday, July 27.  Coupled with outstanding wines to taste from 13 premium Napa/Sonoma wineries, delicious charcuterie, a stunning performance by HSDC dancer Laura Halm and great conversation, it was a night to remember!

HSDC's Annual Gala

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, together with Honorary Chairs the Honorable and Mrs. Richard M. Daley, hosted the Spotlight Ball onWednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Hilton Chicago.  The annual event raised close to $650,000 which will help support Hubbard Street’s education, community and artistic programming. 

Led by Master of Ceremonies Ron Magers of ABC7News, the 2010 Spotlight Ball recognized two significant inaugural Spotlight Award recipients – Sandra P. Guthman, President and CEO of the Polks Bros. Foundation, and Northern Trust, represented by Sherry Barrat, President, Personal Financial Services – for their ongoing and unparalleled impact on Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, in addition to being major benefactors of the arts and arts education throughout Chicago. After a mini-performance by Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, staring gala attendees, the City’s hottest cover band Maggie Speaks had guests up on the dance floor for the remainder of the evening.

Over 200 Bold Women gathered on Thursday, March 18 at HSDC’s annual Bold Moves for Bold Women event. Guests enjoyed specialty Effen martinis, Hortinos margheritas, wine and hors d’oeuvres at the Fairmont Chicago while making new connections, getting re-acquainted with old friends and being pampered by Fairmont’s mySpa.

Special thanks to Honorary Co-Chairs Pamela Cullerton and Nesita Kwan, NBC5; Event Co-Chairs Karen Lennon and Betsy Stelle Morgan, Baker & McKenzie; and their fabulous Host Committee.

Monies raised through the event fund the creation of a new work by Aszure Barton, a young, cutting-edge, female choreographer which will have it’s World Premier during HSDC’s summer series.
